Romantic Dining in Sheffield: Where to Spend Valentine's Day
20 January 2026
Valentine’s week is the busiest stretch of our year, and honestly it is our favourite. The room fills up early, the candles get lit around five, and by half past six the old building on Archer Road is humming.
We have done a set menu for the occasion since more or less the beginning. One menu, no choices to agonise over, just five starters, five mains and a dessert to share. It keeps the kitchen calm and the food coming out the way Franco wants it.
What is actually on the plate
Last year’s starters ran from Thai spiced crab fishcake to lobster and king prawn thermidor, with a wild mushroom risotto in between for anyone skipping shellfish. Mains went bigger: Aberdeen Angus fillet steak sitting on Barolo braised oxtail, wild sea bass with king scallops, and a Welsh lamb tenderloin in a Shiraz and rosemary jus.
Dessert is not chosen, it arrives. A medley of our puddings for the table, coffee, and a few Italian chocolates nobody ever leaves behind.
The full St Valentine’s menu is written up properly on its own page, along with the wines Marco picked to go with it.
What it costs
Two prices, depending on the night. On the 14th itself it is £70 a head, which includes a glass of champagne and a bottle of wine between two. Come the Friday instead and the same food is £40 a head, drinks on top. There is usually a Sunday sitting too, same menu again, £40.
Booking
Tables for the 14th go within the first week or two of January most years, so do call ahead. The number is 0114 235 3080. We are in Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm, at The Old Park Lodge, Archer Road, Millhouses, Sheffield S8 0LA.
